Session Overview:

Duodenal switch (DS) is the most effective bariatric procedure. There has been an increasing interest in that procedure particularly with the introduction of single anastomosis duodenal switch. However duodenal mobilization and anastomosis is the most challenging step during that procedure. This session will focus on various techniques for duodenal dissection, mobilization and anastomosis in duodenal switch whether the two anastomosis or single anastomosis DS. Distinguished faculty will present videos of different techniques for duodenal mobilization, anastomosis and how to manage complications of the duodenum. Technical details, pearls for a safe and reliable duodenal anastomosis will be presented. During each video presentation, the presenter, panel of experts and moderators will discuss, debate and interact with the audience.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Identify the indications for different techniques for duodenal mobilization and anastomosis
• Identify proper technical steps, tips and tricks for duodenal mobilization and anastomosis
• Demonstrate various operative techniques for handling duodenal complications
