Which weight loss programs don’t work? Sensational claims and clever marketing can confuse both patients and clinicians. The purpose of this symposium is to describe the scope of this problem, describe the results of a recent systematic review of the literature on unfounded and inappropriate weight loss treatments, and offer practical guidance for clinicians to support their patients. The symposium will discuss the clinical implications of these results in addition to providing the patient’s perspective and approach to such treatments.
