This reception highlights the importance of employer/business engagement to address overweight/obesity impact on the workforce and the economy. The reception will feature the leadership of Bill Purcell, former mayor of Nashville and Chair of the NASEM Roundtable on Obesity Solutions and the ongoing work by the Nashville Chamber of Commerce. The reception will also include a call to action highlighting the My Healthy Weight pledge.
My Healthy Weight is the first-ever collective initiative offering obesity prevention and treatment for individuals of all ages. The initiative will provide millions of individuals nationally with consistent coverage to support healthy weight change. The Bipartisan Policy Center developed this public-private initiative with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. It is in recognition of this grave public health challenge that large employers, state Medicaid agencies, and private insurers came together for a series of convenings to develop the My Healthy Weight pledge. Pledge signatories agree that collective action is needed on a national scale to improve the quality, accessibility, and utilization of obesity prevention and treatment services for children and adults, and their commitment to standardized coverage for obesity counseling services is a critical first step.
Join us during ObesityWeek to learn more about how employers can be part of the solution for the obesity epidemic.
