Learning Objectives

The course describes the most commonly encountered benign and malignant gastrointestinal disorders including GERD and esophageal disorders following bariatric surgery and review in details the appropriate diagnostic tests, ways to interpret the tests in addition to the best invasive and non invasive treatment modalities in bariatric patients.

By the end of the course attendants should be able to:

  1. Describe the most commonly encountered foregut disorders in bariatric patients

  2. Select the most appropriate diagnostic tests to work-up bariatric patients who develop upper gastrointestinal disorders including malignancies, GERD, benign disorders, hiatal hernia and esophageal motility disorders

  3. Describe the most appropriate treatment options for the upper gastrointestinal disorders following bariatric surgery
