Physical activity has a wide range of well-established beneficial effects, including reducing risk for obesity and improved maintenance of weight loss. Exciting studies are now revealing the brain circuitry that influences voluntary exercise, as well as the effects of exercise on CNS function. Speakers in this symposium will shed light on the biology underlying individual differences in physical activity, mechanisms for the beneficial effects of exercise, and may identify new targets for therapeutic intervention.
