With the growing decriminalization of cannabis for medical and now recreational use there is an imperative to better understand the potential impacts on obesity. While it is well known that activation of CB1 receptors produces acute increases in feeding, long term effects of cannabis use are less well known and often surprising. In addition to CB1, exogenous and endogenous cannabinoids target a host of effectors and produce myriad pharmacological and physiological effects. Speakers in this symposium with describe our understanding of cannabinoids in the context of feeding and obesity.
