David Arterburn, MD, MPH, FACP, FTOS is a general internist and a health services researcher who holds positions as Senior Investigator at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute and Affiliate Professor with the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Arterburn has been awarded more than $15 million in federal and foundation grants and has published over 100 scientific manuscripts in the areas of obesity, diabetes and shared decision making. The main focus of his research is on identifying safe, effective, and affordable interventions to reduce the medical and psychosocial burden of obesity, with a special emphasis on the long-term outcomes of bariatric surgery.
